What role did students play?
While there were many participants at the occupation sites, students constituted a large portion of the population. Because many of them took on responsibilities outside of occupying main Hong Kong intersections, they slept on the streets at night and the next morning went to school, work, or to take care of familial responsibilities. However, their thoughts were with their communities at the occupation sites. Here they set up camp and created hyper local support for each other. Medical stations, study stations, creative endeavours, food, and many other streams of support provided the necessary services to last 79 days.
